On 9 February, a sold-out workshop signalled the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Staffordshire’s food system. Support Staffordshire and Staffordshire Wildlife Trust welcomed a room full of passionate organisations, all eager to explore how a county-wide food partnership could strengthen sustainability, collaboration, and community wellbeing.
Representation came from a wide range of groups, including Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, Better Health Staffordshire, Re-Think Food, Keele University, the Wellies Project, local food producers, community gardens, physical activity providers, educators, and other local charities.
The event sparked lively discussion around the key themes of food and health, nature, the local economy, and community wellbeing. Participants considered what they hoped to achieve in both the short and long term, while presentations from neighbouring counties and cities offered valuable insights into their own food partnership journeys and what has worked well. These conversations helped shape a shared vision for the Staffordshire Food Partnership.
The workshop also began the significant task of mapping the many organisations already making a positive impact in their communities, with the aim of bringing them together to join in the conversation.
There will still be plenty of opportunities to input into the partnership. This feedback form will allow you to express your interest in joining working groups and shaping the partnership, or add any thoughts if you missed the workshop. Staffordshire Food Partnership – next steps – Fill in form
