Else Solicitors – a Burton-based law firm – called on businesses to help their local YMCA recently by joining Else’s charity football tournament and golf day, which attracted local and regional businesspeople.
The football event which took place at the Burton Rugby Club saw seven teams play knock out games, with the top four teams going through to semi-finals, leading to the all-important final. Branston Golf & Country club retained the winner’s title for the second year running after a tough final game.
The golf day was held at Branston Golf & Country Club where over sixty golfers enjoyed a round of golf followed by a meal and prize giving with first prize going to the team from Varlowe Industrial Services.
A combined total of over £2,500 was raised in aid of YMCA Burton from both events, which included raffles and donations.
YMCA Burton is a charity that Else Solicitors and Chris Else are passionate about supporting. Those taking part enjoyed these events whilst doing their bit for a vital local charity.
Paula Senior from the YMCA commented:
“We have thoroughly enjoyed the last couple of weeks attending the events organised & hosted by Else Solicitors. At the football tournament, everyone was there to enjoy the game, play football and the atmosphere was brilliant. Great team spirit from all the businesses who participated this year and thanks to my colleagues, team colleagues & supporters for popping by to cheer on the players. The Golf Day was busy with a great number of golfers attending to enjoy the day, networking with other businesses and support the work we do. The weather was very mixed but everyone was in good spirits. We are experiencing huge demand across all of our services currently. These include housing, mediation, counselling & the community foodbank. Sincere thanks to Chris Else & Charlotte for all their efforts to organise & manage the events. Thanks to everyone who participated, supported the raffle, or sponsored the event & raffle prizes. We could not continue to provide the vital services we offer without the support of others. Thank you.”
Chris Else added:
“Both events were great, seeing businesses, friends and colleagues come together to raise funds for a very worthy cause. The YMCA is under pressure to deliver food parcels as well as provide accommodation to help people off the streets who would otherwise be homeless, so we are delighted to support them and help them continue their great work locally.”
