Volunteering Brings Entertainment For Everyone!
The benefits of volunteering to our mental wellbeing and sense of purpose are well known, as well as getting things done for a local worthy cause. Sometimes volunteers have a much further reach – not only helping their group and each other, but providing entertainment and enjoyment to the local community through fundraising activities too!
The Burton Library Friends Group (BLFG) supports the work of Burton Library by organising and arranging varied activities and events within the Library and local community such as history walks and talks, music, poetry and reading activities.
Their most recent concert entitled ‘Old Friends, New Beginnings’, focused on remembrance and hope, featuring performances of poetry and music from Library Friends and included guest appearances. This event would not have been possible without the help and support of volunteers and friends. The attached photo shows some of the volunteers and Friends of the Library at the Concert held at St Modwens Church.
The Library continues to rely on volunteers to support a range of group activities and the role is hugely varied and fulfilling. They continue to seek volunteers from all walks of life who may be interested in joining them. In particular, they would welcome individuals with an interest in filling key management roles.
