Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT) started to provide the Staffordshire Treatment and Recovery System (STaRS) with partners from BAC, Chase Recovery and Betterway Recovery in April 2024.
They are now at the next stage of the transformation and redesign of STaRS. They are encouraging people who use their service in anyway, to take some time to complete this survey to share your knowledge and experience of what works, what doesn’t and any ideas you may have to make it the best it can be for yourselves and people who they support.
The transition so far:
Staffordshire County Council is responsible for ensuring that support is provided for people experiencing difficulties with drug(s) and alcohol in the county.
On the 1st April 2024, they moved to a Partnership approach, which was supported during the December 2023 consultation by drug and alcohol service staff, people who use their services, those with lived experience. They have now completed the first phase of delivering integrated drug and alcohol services in Staffordshire.
MPFT’s specialist arm, Inclusion, have been working closely with BAC, Chase Recovery and Betterway Recovery to strengthen relationships and to develop smoother pathways within the system so that people who use their services have a fully rounded package of care that meets their needs.
Next steps
The STaRS workforce which includes colleagues from Betterway Recovery, Chase Recovery and BAC alongside people who use their services, those with lived and living experience with wider stakeholders will all have the opportunity to give their views.
They want to make sure people who need their services are supported at every step in their journey to recovery. It is important all their partners work together well in a way which works for the people they support. They want to make sure treatment, rehabilitation and recovery services are easy to access, and that’s where they need your feedback.
As part of the design and delivery of STaRS they are keen to hear from people who currently or have previously worked alongside their services so they can continually develop and provide high quality care. They want to hear from wider partners and stakeholders who work with drug and alcohol recovery services to see what they think, and what they can do to improve. They intend to create more opportunities for collaboration with their partners, so would very much welcome your input and look forward to working with you.
This survey will close on Friday 26th July – please complete this before then. Everyone’s feedback will be reviewed and will fed into the planning stages. The new model will be launched in October, and they will keep you updated on the progress of this initiative.
