Preparing for Protect/Martyn’s Law: Running Safe Events and Working with the Safety Advisory Group (SAG)
The Stoke-on-Trent City Council Emergency Planning Team would like to invite you to a special workshop:
Preparing for Protect/Martyn’s Law: Running Safe Events and Working with the Safety Advisory Group (SAG)
The workshop will take place this coming Tuesday 3rd September 2024 from 1.15pm to 5pm, hosted in the Jubilee Hall at Stoke Town Hall, Glebe Street, Stoke-on-Trent, ST4 1HH. Refreshments will be provided and the event is free for invitees.
Since the Manchester Arena attacks and proposed Protect Duty/Martyn’s Law, there is a growing recognition of the need to mitigate against attack in public places. Many unauthorised security firms are currently offering CT mitigation services – this workshop is an opportunity to get the very latest advice on security and safety planning for events in 2024, for free and from the experts.
Our main speakers are the excellent Staffordshire Counter-Terrorism Police Advisors (CTSAs), who will present on:
- Planning practically for a multitude of risks to events.
- Introducing proportional mitigations to keep your event attendees safe.
- The workshop will be based on a round table format, where you will get a chance to network and interact with other event organisers from our city and North Staffordshire.
- Working together on inputs from our trainers we aim to share good practice and compare methods for getting the most out of your event teams and resources for better, safer events.
The workshop will also feature a shorter presentation by the Emergency Planning Team on the Safety Advisory Group (SAG), which many of you will have attended in the past. This will outline SAG’s duties, remits and limitations and how to get the most out of the SAG process as an event organiser.
Please register your attendance via this sign-up form. We look forward to seeing you on 3rd September.
