Set in 120 acres of Cannock Chase Forest in what was once the Beaudesert Estate, not far from Castle Ring, is the Beaudesert Outdoor Activity Centre. It’s not open to the public, however having been gifted to the Scouts, Guides and Youth of Staffordshire it is run as a charitable trust providing outdoor activities and adventures to uniformed groups, schools and youth groups. Many thousands of youngsters have camped, abseiled, canoed, hiked and cooked on a campfire here for the first time and learned important life skills whilst making lifelong friends.
To keep such an amazing facility going requires a large and dedicated team. The team at Beaudesert are getting themselves ready for the young adventurers arriving next year and have a long list of volunteer roles that could just suit you. There’s roles to suit everyone from hands on fixing and maintenance roles to admin and retail roles – could this be the volunteering adventure you’ve been looking for? You don’t need to be outdoorsy to volunteer there, just willing to help and support a great enterprise.
