Running a VCSE Organisation
This training is funded by Staffordshire County Council. To access this course you must be a Staffordshire resident aged 19+.
Are you a new Trustee, chief Executive or Manager in a VCSE organisation, an experienced Senior Leader or considering becoming one? Are you interested in developing or consolidating your skills and knowledge of how to effectively run your organisation? Would you like to benefit from networking opportunities? Then this is the course for you!
This course is aimed at experienced trustees, new trustees and those who are considering becoming a trustee of a voluntary, community, social enterprise organisation.
This course is delivered over 4 sessions (all 4 must be attended) and will develop your knowledge and skills to setup/run a voluntary/community organisation. Focusing on the following key areas of responsibility for senior leaders:
- Charity finance – not all of us have a head for figures, but you need to know how to ensure that money is safe, properly used and accounted for.
- Health and Safety and Premises Management – everyone has a duty of care in the workplace and this explores the legal obligations for community groups.
- Trustee Recruitment and Succession Planning – recruitment and retention of trustees to voluntary organisations is becoming more challenging each year, you will be supported to produce a recruitment process and anticipate sudden changes at strategic level.
- Business Continuity – you will explore the methods and importance of business continuity management (BCM) and crisis management (CM) as part of your organisation’s risk management capabilities.
By the end of the course, we envisage learners will have drafted a business continuity plan for their organisation and created a supportive network of peers in VCSE organisations, with the assistance of Support Staffordshire staff.
