The Community Mental Health Framework for Young Adults and Older Adults (CMHF) model means that NHS community mental health services will be developed with community organisation working together in a seamless way, with people who use services at the centre of service provision and much more involved in their own care and support.
The aim of this round is to improve awareness for carers who care for someone with a Severe Mental Illness.
Known Challenges:
- Identifying as a carer especially caring with someone with a SMI
- Lower referral rates for those this cohort of carers
- Accessibility to access support – travel costs
- Navigation of carers services who – where ?
- What support is available?
Key areas of focus:
- Raising awareness specifically targeted for carers caring for someone with severe mental illness
- Clearer navigation to carers support pathways aligned to geographical area therefore preventing delays for both staff and carers
- Creating bespoke accessible carers support forums specifically for those carers caring for someone with severe mental throughout Stoke and North Staffordshire
- Increase knowledge and understanding how accessing these benefits can have a positive impact on their caring role
- Easier access to financial support aligned to caring role
- Preventative interventions that inform, advice and support and maintain carers wellbeing
Projects will need to be supporting carers of those with Severe Mental illness (SMI)*
* Definition of SMI: The phrase severe mental illness (SMI) is defined as someone over the age of 18 who has a mental, behavioural, or emotional disorder that causes serious functional impairment that substantially interferes with or limits one or more major life activities
We will support organisations based in, or working for the benefit of people in North Staffordshire. This includes Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire Moorlands and Stoke-on-Trent
If you are based outside but deliverer in these areas, your application may be considered. However, you must have a local connection to the area in which the proposal will be delivered and clearly demonstrate this connection. Applications without clear demonstration of local connection will not be considered.
Grants Available
£1000 minimum – £20,000 maximum
- The length of project is Inclusive of mobilisation, delivery and outcomes, 12 months to mobilise and deliver the grant scheme once awarded.
Eligible Costs
- Equipment costs
- Capital costs – Any capital investment for IT equipment must be itemised and returned to the NSCHT at the end of the project
- Training costs
- Project costs
- Event costs
- Revenue/ staff costs
- Overhead costs – maximum of 10% of the total grant requested
- Costs relating to buildings and land permissions which have been sought and approved prior to the application being made.
The application window closes at midday on Friday 21st February 2025. Applications received by this date, will be assessed and seen at the panel on 18th March 2025.
