NCVO members’ assembly: West Midlands in partnership with Support Staffordshire

Event details

Join us and Support Staffordshire to:

  • meet and network with neighbouring voluntary organisations
  • share best practice, experiences and ideas
  • talk to NCVO staff.

The assembly will be broken up into two sessions.

Session 1: A Vision for Volunteering (NCVO)

The Vision for Volunteering is building a movement of people, places and projects to create a bright future for volunteering.

It’s based around five themes. Organisations can use the themes as a strategic framework to create ‘local visions’.

By the end of the session, you’ll:

  • learn more about the Vision for Volunteering and how to get involved
  • explore examples of other emerging local visions and strategies
  • discuss how the themes and examples might influence and shape your work.

Session 2: Cross-sector working between the health and voluntary sectors

Over the past five years, Support Staffordshire has increased its NHS income from zero to £1.2M.

In this session, their chief executive Garry Jones will share reflections on working with the NHS. He’ll discuss the opportunities and the challenges of cross-sector working at a time when demand is higher than ever, and strikes and cuts loom large.

By the end of the session, you’ll:

  • learn about NHS investment opportunities for local voluntary organisations
  • consider the range of different options for working with the NHS
  • understand the differences between NHS commissioners, provider trusts and primary care.
