Project Indi (Charity registration no: 1183838) is a local grassroots charity based in Stoke on Trent. We support vulnerable and disabled adults, children, and their families to reach their full potential.

We support our members to regularly access a range of diverse activities and workshops at our inclusive hub, The Indi Club. We are partnered and work with a variety of local businesses, activity providers and workshop leaders to deliver specialised activity programmes that aim to empower independence, champion inclusion, and promote physical and emotional wellbeing.

Role Overview

Working as part of our support team, you will develop an entertaining and engaging activities programme, that supports children and young people to grow, develop and thrive! You will take the lead on our children’s and families activity programme, including coordinating our school holiday activities, family sessions, and after school clubs for young people with special educational needs or disabilities.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organise, and deliver engaging activities, workshops, and events for children and young people, ensuring sessions are adaptable to include and meet the needs of young people.
  • To grow and deliver our weekly after school club. Ensuring the provision of safe, healthy, and stimulating environments.
  • To liaise with suppliers and providers to create an engaging and achievable activity programme within an agreed budget and timescale.
  • Engage and build positive, trusted relationships with young people and support young people to integrate and thrive.
  • Coordinate and record bookings for activities and special events and work to maximise bookings.
  • Assist in the running and development of The Indi Club including organising consumables, displays, general appearance, light cleaning and supporting visitors.
  • To resolve queries received by telephone, email, in writing in an efficient, professional, and courteous manner.
  • To develop and maintain information systems. Ensuring all new contacts are added and information is correct and up to date.
  • To provide social media content and assist the Projects, Communications and Events Manager with promotion of the charity and the services we provide.
  • Arrange and attend outreach visits in the community to promote the charity and recruit new members and volunteers.
  • Supervise, train and support students and volunteers throughout their placement, and observe and provide feedback to the Community Engagement Lead to support the progression of the work placement.

About You

If you have experience of working with vulnerable and disabled children in the community, then this could be the role for you! You will have great organisational skills and the ability to motivate and inspire our members to participate and thrive in social activities. You will need to work on your own initiative, be creative and have a ‘can do’ attitude to be successful in this role. You will have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

The people we support, and their families are at the centre of what we do. We are looking for individuals who have the right skills, experience, and ability to provide high quality support to really make a difference.

Hours of work: 25 hours per week. There will be a requirement to work occasional weekends when required.

Rate of Pay: £25,000 (Full Time Equivalent).

Holidays: 20 days annual leave, plus bank holidays and Christmas shutdown (Full Time Equivalent).

Interviews: Will be held on an ongoing basis. Please note we may close the position early if a suitable candidate is found.

Requirements

  • Passionate about empowering children and young people.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience of working with young people and an understanding of the current challenges they face.
  • Ability to communicate and engage with young people and their parents/guardians sensitively and confidently in both large group and individual settings.
  • Good knowledge of and a commitment to Safeguarding, Health and Safety and Equality Diversity and Inclusion.
  • A willingness to work flexible hours as this role will involve some evenings and weekend commitments.
  • Computer literate and have experience of working with Microsoft Office packages
  • A full driving license and access to own car.
