Asda Foundation’s goal is to build resilient communities by empowering local groups to make
a positive difference, addressing local challenges and social needs. We aim to achieve this
by providing funding to local grassroots community groups to enable them to meet the
diverse needs of their community and to help them thrive and grow.
The Empowering Local Communities (ELC) grant is one of three grants within our
‘Grassroots Grants’ programme, our broadest grant programme which aims to empower our
Community Champions and grassroots groups to apply for what’s important in local
communities. It is designed to support a broad range of activities helping to transform
communities and improve lives.

The Empowering Local Communities Grant programme is provided and administered by Asda Foundation, Asda’s charity.

The Asda superstores each have a Community Champion whose role is to support groups and projects within the community, as well as manage Asda Foundation grant applications.
