A give-away day, organised by VAST, saw voluntary and community sector organisations benefit from a huge range of free pottery items, donated by Steelite International.
Over the course of the day, which was held at the Dudson Centre, 47 local organisations were able to choose from a range of donated items, including plates, mugs and other pottery wares, with over 7,100 items distributed during the day.
The pottery will help organisations to deliver a range of services to benefit local communities including a community café, a charity which supports survivors of domestic abuse, and a veterans’ charity Christmas meal.
Local organisations welcomed the initiative and highlighted the benefits the donated pottery will have for their service users:
“A truly wonderful joint initiative between VAST and Steelite International, which will benefit many local VCSE organisations and the people they support.”
“The items will help us to furnish accommodation for vulnerable people providing some basics meaning we can use personal budgets/other fundraising income for other items they need e.g. furniture, bedding.”
Following the success of the give-away day, VAST Chief Executive Lisa Healings said:
“Thanks to this hugely generous donation from Steelite International, we could host this fantastic giveaway day for our member organisations. We heard some great feedback from groups on the day, and we’re really looking forward to seeing what our members do with the items they collected!”
