Update on ‘Local Help My Way’ – Staffordshire’s new personalised care and wellbeing support scheme
Local Help My Way is a brand-new scheme launched earlier this year that offers a local, personalised, and flexible way to provide care and wellbeing support. So, for the person needing some help to live independently at home, it gives them a choice about who provides it, and what help they get.
But to offer this service, we also need to recruit and promote small local enterprises (often sole traders) who can provide care and support services in their area.
We’ve therefore begun by running a series of over 15 outreach sessions in Tamworth and Staffordshire Moorlands.
We’ve spoken to around 50 potential care and wellbeing providers, run two successful ‘onboarding’ briefing sessions for those interested in becoming providers, and have 15 ready for approval and to start advertising their services via the Local Help My Way website.
The aim is for this to be a countywide scheme, so from January we’ll be expanding into other districts and running further outreach sessions in Newcastle and the surrounding area, Burton, and the Kinver area of South Staffordshire.
