Support Staffordshire has been heavily involved in local emergency response and recovery since the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.
Since 2023 we have been working closely with the Staffordshire Civil Contingency Unit (CCU), a partnership of local emergency services, first responders and councils, to engage and involve voluntary organisations more in response and recovery work. This could involve emergency volunteers, pop up rest centres, or something more specialist. With emergencies such as winter flooding and excess summer heat becoming more common, all communities need to be more prepared and resilient.
We are also a member of the national Voluntary Sector Emergencies Partnership, actively involved as a ‘local lead’, and part of the Strategy Group and LRF Working Group.
Concerns about disinformation, discrimination and violence: support and resources
Support Staffordshire and VAST are building a list of resources to support the voluntary, community and faith sector due to concerns around recent far-right racist and Islamophobic violence, hate and spreading of disinformation. Thank you to our colleagues at the VCS Emergencies Partnership for sharing many of these resources.
If there are any resources missing that would be useful for us to include, contact us with a General Enquiry using the button below. Please include: the name of the organisation, weblink (if applicable), email/contact number, and a brief description of what services the organisation offers.
