Newcastle Community Transport are Bus-ting for new volunteers!

Newcastle Community Transport CIO are a small charity who make a big difference to less able people. Established in 1974, they have been providing wheelchair accessible transport for over 50 years.

This amazing group have two 12-seater, wheelchair-accessible minibuses and a small WAV (wheelchair accessible vehicle) car which has room for 1 wheelchair and seats for two carers.  Using these vehicles, they provide a door to door transport service for people in Newcastle under Lyme and surrounding areas who are less mobile , do not have their own cars and are unable to use public transport due to hidden or visible disabilities.

They also provide trips to places such as: clubs, supermarkets, meals out, theatres, medical appointments & visitor centres.

This well supported and appreciated lifeline service is in need of a few more volunteers to join them to help keep their services going.  In particular they need volunteer drivers to join the team and drive the WAV minibuses and car.  This is a great role for getting out and about and meeting new people.  Full training is provided in the use of the vehicles and the care and safety of passengers.

They are also looking for people to join their Committee of Trustees, as well as a Secretary to the Trustees.  No experience is needed to be a Trustee, just enthusiasm to support this wonderful group and a willingness to help.

If you’re local to Newcastle under Lyme and would like to help or find out more information, you can view the roles and apply direct here Driver role    Trustee role     Secretary role  or email the Support Staffordshire volunteering team on volunteering@supportstaffordshire.org.uk
