The Happiness Fund

Applications for the second round will be accepted from 7 September 2026 to 2 October 2027. The winner is announced in December 2026.

The Happiness Fund is provided by Laughology.

Funding is intended to build happy, strong, resilient communities by supporting grassroots, not-for-profit projects that enable sustainable outcomes in:

  • Mental health
  • Wellbeing
  • Inclusion
  • Skills development

This year, there is a total of £20,000 available across two application cycles.

Each cycle will award two grants of £5,000 each.

The following are not eligible for funding:

  • Big, national charities looking for another round of funding.
  • One-off events (unless there is a lasting benefit for the community).
  • Salaries, accommodation or rent (renovations will be considered).
  • Medical treatments or research.
  • Schools and universities (unless it is an independent project, not reliant on school funding).
  • Personal development courses.
  • Retroactive funding for expenses.
  • Projects outside the UK.

Grants can be used to support grassroots, neighbourhood-based community projects that improve mental health, wellbeing, inclusion, and skills development, with a focus on activities that have sustainable impact and the potential to continue beyond the initial funding.
