This week’s announcements on the future of adult social care, alongside plans for devolution and local government reorganisation, have put the spotlight firmly on community-based care.
Here at Support Staffordshire, we’re proud to say we’re already ahead of the curve.
Through Local Help My Way, delivered in partnership with Staffordshire County Council, we’ve spent the past year developing a model built around choice, prevention and personalised support – the very principles now being championed nationally.
The project is already making an impact across the county, with verified Micro Providers now working in every district of Staffordshire. Rather than simply signposting people to a directory, we listen to both clients and providers, carefully matching people with the individual best placed to meet their needs.
Micro Providers offer everything from personal care and companionship to home help, gardening, digital support, transport and practical everyday assistance, helping people remain independent while creating sustainable local businesses.
As national plans progress, our focus remains unchanged. We already work closely with colleagues delivering the Micro Provider programme within Stoke-on-Trent City Council, and we’ll continue strengthening those relationships as new arrangements re devolution emerge.
For us, it’s very much business as usual. We’ll continue supporting local people to establish successful Micro Provider businesses and matching them with residents who want more choice, flexibility and personalised support.
We’re excited to continue growing the network and helping shape a more community-led approach to care across Staffordshire.
