At Citizens Advice South East Staffordshire (CASES), our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. Their dedication, compassion and commitment help us provide life-changing advice and support to the residents of Lichfield district every single day.
We wanted to take a moment to celebrate some incredible achievements across our volunteer team and recognise the impact volunteering continues to have — not only for our clients, but for the volunteers themselves.
Congratulations to Our Young Law Volunteers
We would like to say a huge thank you and congratulations to several of our young law volunteers who have recently moved on into full-time employment opportunities.
Breaking into the legal sector is increasingly competitive, and gaining meaningful experience can make all the difference. We are incredibly proud that CASES has helped provide the practical client experience, communication skills and confidence that helped these volunteers stand out in what is currently an oversaturated and highly competitive graduate job market.
One former volunteer, who has recently secured a paralegal role in Birmingham, shared this reflection on their experience with CASES:
“I couldn’t have asked for better supervisors – they were amazing. I always felt supported. Whether it was talking through a difficult case, getting feedback, or discussing ideas about how to help a client, they were always willing to help me develop.”
“Although at first it felt like a lot of information, I was glad it was comprehensive because I felt prepared when advising clients. Everyone in the office supported each other and helped manage the learning process.”
“I’m excited to say I’ve managed to beat the terrible grad job market and have accepted a paralegal role in Birmingham! Without you taking the time to train me, develop my client skills and give me this opportunity, I definitely wouldn’t be in this position. 90% of my interview was talking about CASES!”

Celebrating Martha — Our Youngest Ever Trustee
A special congratulations also goes to Martha, who has successfully transitioned from volunteer to becoming our youngest ever trustee.
Martha’s journey is a fantastic example of how volunteering can open doors to leadership opportunities and personal growth. Her commitment to supporting the organisation and local community has been outstanding, and we are delighted to continue working alongside her in this new role.
