One-off grants are available for community groups, system partners and Macmillan professionals across the UK to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.
Objectives of Fund
This funding is intended to help ensure everyone gets the best care there is to offer, whoever and wherever they are, whether they are supporting people in their communities or working within cancer services, or in need of individual support.
One-off grants of up to £15,000 are available.
Who Can Apply
Applications will be accepted from:
- Cancer self-help and support groups
- Macmillan Professionals
- Voluntary, third-sector, and community groups
- Partner organisations.
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be a not-for-profit group or organisation.
- Be based in the UK, with all funded projects taking place within the UK. (Macmillan does not fund overseas interventions.)
- Have a UK bank account in the organisation’s/group’s name with at least two independent signatories who are not related to each other.
- Be able to provide documentation evidencing the organisation’s/group’s bank account.
- Be able to provide financial accounts covering a minimum of the previous 12 months.
- Have a Safeguarding Policy in place and provide safeguarding training for trustees, staff, and volunteers.
The following are not eligible for funding:
- Activities that do not specifically benefit people living with cancer
- Carer’s support, bereavement support
- Salaries, on-costs, and overheads
- Anything not in line with Macmillan’s charitable objectives and constitution
- Learning and Development for professionals (including online HOPE facilitator training, printing of HOPE manuals and HOPE worksheets, HOPE delivery costs e.g., room hire, refreshments)
- Retrospective funding
- Holidays for groups or individuals
- Activities that support fundraising
- Mobile device contracts and software
- Items or projects that have previously been funded through a Macmillan Support Grant.
- Any consultancy work that Macmillan would be the direct beneficiary of.
Eligible Expenditure
The funding can be used for:
- Initial room hire costs and refreshments
- Events e.g. cancer awareness
- Group outings/celebrations
- Volunteer expenses
- Signposting information
- Information stands
- Community projects
- Education sessions for people living with cancer
- Physical activity linked to personalised care such as prehabilitation, rehabilitation and wellbeing
- IT equipment
