Staffordshire Green Network: April Updates

Spotlight on: Community Climate Skills

One of our key themes for the Staffordshire Green Network is training, skills and knowledge. Support Staffordshire has been doing a deep-dive into this topic in partnership with Keele University over recent months. We ran workshops with community groups to discover what skills or knowledge groups feel they need to run effective local climate action, then hosted some events to meet some of these needs. Groups have learnt about how to host student placements to benefit from younger volunteer support, and have come together with schools to find out how to establish working relationships with schools to run community projects.

Our key findings are summarised in the illustration below – thanks to Ella Kasperowicz for this amazing image!

Funding: Cycling UK – Big Bike Revival Grants Programme

Grants are available for voluntary groups, social enterprises, and other not-for-profit organisations to deliver cycling projects and activities across England for people who do not normally cycle. Grants of up to £3,500 are available.
