We are looking for a full-time Community Advisor to join our Guidance, Advice, Information and Network (GAIN) Project in Birmingham.
Community Advisors provide personalised support to disadvantaged and vulnerable adults across Birmingham, helping to improve their health and wellbeing. Working within Birmingham\’s four main quadrants, Advisors deliver advice and practical support from accessible community outreach locations. The role involves assessing individual needs, developing tailored support plans, and connecting people with appropriate local services. Community Advisors build positive relationships with individuals and partner organisations to promote independence and improve outcomes. We are looking for someone who:
- Has excellent communication skills
- Can complete tasks to the highest quality
- Can monitor and maintain own standards ensuring work is accurate
- Is experienced in working with a diverse range of people and providing a welcoming environment for clients
- Is in possession of a full driving licence and use of a car, or otherwise able to fulfil the travel requirements necessary
Full training and support will be given to the successful candidate to enable them to carry out their role
Responsibilities / Key Tasks:
- Interview clients using sensitive listening and questioning skills to allow clients to explain their problem(s) and empower them to set their own priorities
- Interpret information and provide clear advice and practical options tailored to each individual\’s circumstances
- Support clients with related issues and make appropriate referrals to specialist services and partner organisations where needed.
- Maintain strict confidentiality, exercising discretion, professionalism, and sound judgement in all aspects of the role
- Provide advice, information, and guidance on a wide range of issues, including housing, benefits, debt, employment, and health services.
- Work collaboratively as part of a multi-agency team, building strong relationships with local organisations to raise awareness of the service and strengthen support available within the community.

The essentials
- Salary: £24,784.50 – £26,309 depending on experience plus travel expenses
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week
- Location: Hybrid Working – working from home and at outreach venues across Birmingham and occasionally required to travel to CAMM offices (Derby, Swadlincote, Tamworth) for team meetings and training.
- Contract: fixed-term contract until 30 November 2029 (with possible extension to 30 November 2031)
