Investing in the Future of Volunteering: Launching the Volunteering for Health Innovation and Development Fund

Volunteering has always played a vital role in supporting health and care services. Across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent, volunteers contribute their time, skills and lived experience every day to enhance patient experience, support staff, strengthen communities and improve health outcomes.

But what if we could do even more?

That’s why we are delighted to announce the launch of the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Volunteering for Health Innovation and Development Fund.

As part of the national Volunteering for Health programme, the new fund has been created to help NHS organisations turn great ideas into reality. It is designed to support innovative projects that test new approaches, strengthen volunteering infrastructure, and demonstrate the difference volunteering can make across our health and care system.

The Fund will support projects aligned to one or more of four key Volunteering for Health priorities:

  • Increasing the volume and diversity of volunteering opportunities
  • Improving the volunteer experience
  • Supporting staff volunteering and strengthening connections with local communities
  • Developing strategic leadership and system-wide learning around volunteering
